My Story

3 Jun 2024

This August, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, over 1,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year, and it's the biggest killer of children from disease in Canada.

I’m a retired paediatrician.

When I was still working , I have seen many children suffering from all kind of diseases and I felt bad for all of them, but the ones who made me feel the worst were the children who were undergoing Cancer treatments. It was really heartbreaking for me to see children as young as two years old or even less having to endure the stress of coming to the hospital every few days to be put through the pain of blood works, intravenous treatments that make them weak and nauseated, attack their still healthy body tissues in order to get to the cancerous cells, yet as soon as they start feeling a little bit better they become playful, happy and cheerful as if they already grasped that deep inner knowing about the importance of seizing the moment because tomorrow is not warranted .

Cancers are the most funded and researched diseases, their treatments are constantly evolving and improving; yet there’s still a long way to go in both the treatments and the prevention of these dreadful diseases and every penny donated is worth the fight .

Please consider contributing with any amount. Your donations will be geared toward a better future for children and will help funding the research for a cure or an effective prevention for kids cancer at the Toronto sick kids hospital research centre.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.
