Hello,

My name is Michael Riley and I am honored to be taking part in The Great Cycle Challenge for a third year, and as a Champion Rider no less!

The Great Cycle Challenge (GCC) is a nation wide cycling event that raises awareness and money for cancer research at SickKids Hospital. This year we have 13,300 riders and counting!!

100% of donation go directly toward SickKids hospital.

I started this event back in 2021. Being a new father to my beautiful daughter Emma, priorities changed very quickly in my life. I realized how fortunate I was to have a healthy child. Sadly this is not the case for everyone. Since having a child, I have a drive to help those I can with events like the GCC.

With $7,300 raised and 640Km ridden in 2021 and $16,356 raised and 1018km ridden in 2022, I'm very excited to share my next big adventure for such an amazing cause.

This year I plan on going bigger yet again, riding at least 1250km and to raise $20,000 or more with a final ride from Toronto - Montreal at 600km over 5 days while camping each night.

I'm so excited and grateful to be apart of this amazing event, and for many, many more years to come!

This charity has become such an important part of my life and identity and not just for the month of August, but every single day. I spend hundreds of hours training for long distance riding. This year i will be riding the circumference of Lake Ontario. That's 900km that I will complete over 6-7 days. I carry all my equipment on my bike so that i can camp each night. Bikepacking they call it. Each day requires about 10 hours of non stop riding, rain or shine. Looking forward to seeing you in a couple weeks. Have a fantastic Day.”
